The Sherpa From Alabama

Croc Rocket's 2,000 plus mile walk along the east coast

Gear List

Here is a list of the items I will be taking down the trial with me. Most likely I plan to simply mail back the heavier winter gear during the middle section, and then get it mailed back once I reach the middle of Vermont.

Clothing:

  • KAD Polyester Fleece Vest  (Winter)
  • Under Armour Heat Gear t-shirt
  • 100% Acrylic Scarf (Winter)
  • SmartWool PHD Light Cusion socks
  • SmartWool PHD Heavy Cusion socks
  • Thorlos Ultra Light Hiking Lite Padded socks
  • Merrell Moab Goretex Boots
  • REI Polartec Lightweight long sleeve shirt (Winter)
  • Adidas Terrex Lightweight Primaloft Jacket (Winter)
  • Nike Pro Combat Hyperwarm Compression Tights (Winter)
  • Columbia Wind Breaker (Winter)
  • Columbia PFG Zip-Offs
  • Columbia Rain Jacket

Essentials:

  • Toothbrush, floss, and paste
  • Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler (I have a hard-core inhalant problem)
  • Blister band-aids (Yes, that is Czech, they snuck into my luggage a few months ago)
  • Gold Bond. Because chafing f*cking sucks
  • MSR Pack soap
  • A pill bottle full of Tony’s and crushed red pepper
  • Extra AAA batteries for my headlamp
  • TP
  • Ibuprofen (AT veterans, I have read your wisdom on the great forums of the internet and will not make this trip without it)
  • HotHands Super Warmer, just in case
  • Bug Spray (Summer)

Tools:

  • Princeton Tec Remix headlamp
  • Cold Steel Recon Tanto knife
  • Light My Fire spork w/ case (I have an extra one for a friend 🙂
  • Sponge with Scotch Brite on one side (very handy for scrubbing stuck oatmeal or that nasty carbon layer on the outside)
  • Primus AluTec 1L pot
  • Alcohol stove
  • Custom made Aluminum-Framed pot tri-stand (I made that 🙂 courtesy of some scrap metal at my workplace)
  • MSR WhisperLite

Hydration:

  • Camelbak Antidote 2L model w/ insulated hose
  • Sawyer water filter (the full size one)
  • Sawyer collapsible water bottles
  • Sawyer-Camelbak adapter (for reverese filling)
  • Platypus collapsible water sacks
  • Powerade bottles, because Gatorade is too mainstream.
