“You can try hard to be someone else, or not at all to be yourself”
Over hills filled with young blueberry bushes, damp with the dew of the morning. The trek is as beautiful as you believe it to be.
Came across a family that was driving the BRP who had apparently never seen a thru hiker. They were hiking the Appalachian trail and didn’t even know it! (though that’s pretty common for muggles).
Trail crew was out maintaining shelters and rebuilding privies. Heard a bunch of gun shots coming from Bryant Ridge Shelter about 10 minutes away.
I’m always secretly paranoid that there is some psycho waiting at the shelter shooting hikers, and then I just tell myself I’m silly and that someone is probably just using our gear as target practice.
This shelter was so completely massive, Happy Camper and I were able to set up our hammocks on the support beams. Spent a while talking with stove guru late into the night about ideas for my gear company.
